Buddy Charles describes himself as "A bit of the undercoat of Chicago that occasionally breaks through". Born, bred and belonging to Chicago, he has lived it's music and thebeatof it's entertainment world ever since he can remember starting his professional career as a radio actor on WGN at the tender age of 12.

He began his musical career after his army service in Alaska, sampling the rich musical fare that abounded everywhere - woking wherever a young singer/pianist could find work - eventually spending a year on TV with the Tony Dugan Show, Then on to a recording contrat with Mercury and the Muggsy Spanier, Horace Henderson and Ralp Martierie Orchestras. These involved floor shows and forgettable hotel rooms in distant places and a yearning to return to the night club scene, whie launching a family.

There was a series of two-year stints at The Black Orchid , The Playroom, Tony Zale's and The Embers - which topped off with an 18 year stint at The Acorn on Oak and 9 years at The Drake Hotel. In the midst of all this mayhem there has been a series of albums, some tapes and enough concerts to make him a grump to his family.

All in all - since his entrance into The Booze Universe in 1947 - he has tried to reflect the life and times of America, with all the songs, laughter, memories, brilliance and beauty that have passed through his head and his handsa nd his heart. That, he says, is what a single perforer is all about - so that is what he has been doing these past years at The Chamber's Restaurant where he feels at home - and where he finds warm audiences and talented fellow performers.
